Our Dolphin Robotic Pool Cleaner is probably one of my FAVORITE things I've ever purchased through Amazon! Robotic pool cleaners (also called automatic pool cleaners) make life so much easier when it comes to pool maintenance. Who has time to stand around for a half hour or so manually cleaning a pool?
Before finding the Dolphin, that's exactly what I was doing. It was one of my dreaded weekly chores (I'm one of the lucky ones, depending on your yard layout, trees, etc…you may be cleaning your pool on an almost daily basis). Who wants worms, mulch, leaves, and dirt yucking up the pool?
Cleaning with the Dolphin is super simple….
You place it in the pool, shaking back and forth while under water to get the bubbles out
Plug it in and turn it on.
Let it do it's thing…it's normally finished in about 3 hours. You could actually turn it off after an hour and your pool is about 95+% clean (depending on pool size).
Turn it off, take it out of the water, spray off the filters, and put it away. Several minutes total and you're done. No need to waste a half hour manually cleaning with a vacuum and hose!
Besides making pool cleaning super easy, the Dolphin is great redneck entertainment! It's been many a Friday afternoon that my husband and I have sat around the pool watching the Dolphin work…climbing walls, making noises, etc. And it does climb walls! Sometimes, you'll think it's getting ready to walk out onto the concrete!
We have mulch around the pool that always seems to find it way into the water…especially after storms. The Dolphin easily vacuums up the larger pieces of mulch and handles those slimy dead worms with ease!
Below are a few photos of the dolphin at work and our pool before and after…
We initially purchased the Dolphin pool cleaner because of all the positive reviews over at Amazon. It's actually the #1 'Best Seller' in the 'Robotic Pool Cleaners' category as of today.
Here are a few additional features for the Dolphin pool cleaner…
- 60 Foot cable with swivel to prevent tangling
- Cleans, scrubs, vacuums, and filters pool floor and walls in just 3 hours
- Recommended for in ground pools up to 50 feet in length
- Lightweight and easy to use
- Easy to clean filters

So what are the drawbacks?
Our pool has a weird shape, so occasionally the Dolphin will get hung up in one particular corner. We'll peek out the door from time to time and go give a gentle tug on the cord if it's stuck. This doesn't happen often though. We ran the Dolphin today for 3 hours and it worked flawlessly. Even on those rare times it does get stuck, if we just leave it alone, it will usually work it's way out of that particular area.
Another thing is occasionally some of the debris will escape and fall out as you're removing the Dolphin from the water. This isn't a huge deal. We cut it off when it approaches the shallow section (by the steps) and just lift nice and smoothly out of the water. One of us will standby with the net in case anything escapes. Again, no big issue here either.
Our dolphin has been a great purchase and works like a charm each time out. It's a great timesaver and like I said earlier…it's GREAT redneck entertainment to sit by the pool and watch it do it's thing!
